Mattie Dorsey was the first Black woman to be elected to Ypsilanti’s city council in 1975. She was known for her fight against urban renewal, aiming to make quality housing more attainable for almost 30 years. Decades later, Dorsey Estates set out with the same mission: to make homeownership financially accessible to Ypsilanti’s residents.
